We Go Behind The Scenes At Overhaulin' - Lights! Camera! Action!
It may be down to the wire,... It may be down to the wire, but Chip is still making decisions, and that includes whether or not to reinstall the stock grille emblem. After a few minutes of discussing options with Rob and Isaac, Chip gives the OK to run the original emblem. | It may be late afternoon on... It may be late afternoon on D-day, but Chris Jacobs is never one to let pressure get in the way of on-set antics. If Overhaulin' ever closes its doors, Chris could make a nice living doing stand up. | The hood goes on for the last... The hood goes on for the last time, while other small, last-minute problems are tackled. A local Mustang shop, Mustangs & American Classics, drops by to help with the last-minute assembly. It's now about 8 p.m. Hector knows he's been overhauled, but he has to wait off-set until the car is ready. | One of the finishing touches... One of the finishing touches for each build is a Foose Design license plate on the rear of the build-installed by the man himself. | We can't imagine what the... We can't imagine what the huge floor-logo decal costs, but a new one is installed just before the reveal for every show. After a week of floor creepers, jackstands, grease, and weld spatter, there's not much left of it. It's getting so late now that anyone not finishing the car jumps in to help remove the large decal. | What fun would it be to build... What fun would it be to build a whole car in a week if there wasn't a last-minute problem? After putting the nearly completed car on the ground, the team found the front ride height too high. So what does Chip and another A-team member do? That's right-they yank the springs, cut off a coil, dress the end of the coil on the belt sander, and stick them back in the car, all in about 15 minutes for both sides. | The car is on the ground and... The car is on the ground and as ready as it's going to be. There's no brake fluid in the lines, and there are a few other things to finish, but nothing that will stop the show. Some cars are more complete than others, and some get finished early enough to get video of them being driven (this one isn't driveable, and it's almost 11:30 p.m.). Every car built goes to a local specialty shop for a full safety check, alignment, and so on. In this case, it's sent to Umberto Gizzi at GRC Performance. | The camera crew prepairs for... The camera crew prepairs for the moment that the Overhaulin' team has been building up to. Marcelo give the car one last look before his cousin is presented with the fresh look of his SportsRoof Mustang. | The completed SportsRoof and... The completed SportsRoof and its happy owner, Hector Perez (center), his wife, Marina (Chip named the paint Marina Blue), and Hector's cousin and show insider, Marcelo Obregon. |
