5.0L Coyote Swap Headers For Mustang, Falcon, Cougar, and Fairlane
Doug's Headers, a division of Pertronix, now offers new long-tube, race-style headers for the new Ford Coyote 5.0L engine swaps in '64-'73 Mustangs, '60-'65 Falcons, '66-'67 Fairlanes, and '67-'68 Cougars. These headers were designed for use with IFS conversions kits from TCI or similar designs, and will work with either six-speed manual transmissions or the factory Ford six-speed select shift automatic.
These high-quality headers feature 38-inch-thick flanges, 1¾-inch primary tubes, and 3-inch collectors with a stainless V-band clamp system. They come standard with a polished high luster heat- and corrosion-resistant metallic ceramic coating for a rich appearance and long life. These headers also come with with reducers, 1,100-degree-rated gaskets, special design header bolts and washers, as well as the O2 sensor extensions. Doug's Coyote swap headers can also be ordered uncoated.
ProCharger Debuts Programmable-Ratio Supercharger
Accessible Technologies, Inc., manufacturer of ProCharger supercharger systems, recently announced the release of the industry's first programmable-ratio supercharger, the i-1 ProCharger. The i-1 system features an intelligent control system and optional touchscreen display with which drivers can switch between three factory-supplied performance modes, as well as a custom mode. The patented programmable i-1 design produces immediate response, even at low engine rpm, without any low-end performance lag or power fall-off at higher engine rpm.
This latest ProCharger offering adds programmable boost and cockpit control, and features exclusive billet impellers and rugged gear cases. The programmable boost is delivered by a highly durable, variable-ratio transmission design, with a rugged, dry hybrid drive.

Professional-Grade Penetrating Oil
Promech Professional Mechanics Formula Penetrating Oil was originally developed and used by a small circle of professional mechanics, Hot Rod shops, and restoration professionals, and it is now available to the general public. Promech claims that the penetrating oil is faster acting and more effective at freeing up rusted, corroded, or seized bolts, nuts, and hardware than anything currently available, retail or industrial. Promech is not intended to be a universal lubricant.
Promech has also shown to work very well in cases of "galvanic corrosion of dissimilar metals," such as the seizing of a steel bolt in an aluminum block. Additionally, Promech has shown unique properties such as actually "fizzing" the corrosion out, as well as the ability to "creep and climb" into the seized fasteners-an especially good benefit when working in an inverted position.

Ram Revives Long-Style Racing Clutch
Ram Clutches has created a new 11-inch, Long-style pressure plate for race cars generating up to 1,000 hp. It incorporates a lightweight, billet-aluminum pressure ring with six individual steel inserts, and by using 7075 high-strength aluminum, the rotating weight of the assembly is reduced by about three pounds compared to a traditional all-steel assembly.
Though designed primarily for use with a single, sintered-iron racing clutch disc, this pressure plate will work with any friction material. However, the sintered disc, which is most commonly associated with dual or triple-disc racing clutches, excels in its ability to induce clutch slippage during takeoff and while accelerating through the gears. It accomplishes a smooth application of power and reduces wear and tear on the transmission and other drivetrain components. The sintered disc is easily serviced in the field. Similarly, the steel inserts are field serviceable.
Ram also offers this new Long-style clutch with or without counter-weighted levers. Adjustable counterweights increase the unit's centrifugal clamping force and are used with clutchless transmissions. Static clamping force is adjusted by selecting one of four spring rates. Priced at $925, Ram's new Long-style clutch is ideal for Stock, Super Stock, and single-clutch classes using Liberty, Jerico, or Lenco transmissions. It is also suitable for grassroots and bracket racers and many other classes up to 10.5 tire categories.

Air Flow Research lightweight phenolic carburetor spacers for 4150-style carbs are available in a 1-inch-thick open or tapered four-hole version. Both versions will act as a heat barrier between the manifold and carburetor to keep the fuel in the float bowls cooler, as well as the actual carb body itself. This results in a cooler, denser air/fuel induction charge for increased horsepower.
AFR claims that its tapered four-hole spacer will typically increase horsepower and show notable improvements in torque as well. The open spacer works well in applications requiring more plenum volume and engine rpm. Some applications will benefit from both installed (tapered and open) assuming you have the hood height to accommodate them. Both have a cloverleaf design making them more efficient by reducing some of the turbulent air directly under the carb base. They fit the AFR line of composite intake manifolds perfectly, of course, but can be used on most aftermarket manifolds as well.

Factory Ford Electric Power Steering For Your Classic
Fatman Fabrications now offers the option of mounting the new Electric Power Assist Steering (EPAS) rack and pinion to its line of IFS kits. The latest Ford modular engines have no provision for a normal hydraulic power steering pump. An aftermarket drive system can be installed, but many rodders will prefer to retain the OEM serpentine belt drive. The EPAS rack is more bulky, and its width will only allow it to be used with widened track widths for larger cars, but the rack has excellent road manners and eliminates any chance of fluid leaks as with a conventional power rack.
