Just as with the stock Boss...
Just as with the stock Boss 302, the modified version was run with a set of long-tube Hooker Super Comp headers. The 1 3/4-inch headers fit the dyno perfectly and exhaled through a set of 3-inch collector extensions.

We ran a set of 1.73:1 ratio...

We ran a set of 1.73:1 ratio roller rockers from Ford Racing on the CHI heads. Also present was a set of hardened pushrods and guideplates from Comp Cams.

Here is a shot of the Moroso oil pan for our Better Boss. Where the factory Boss oil pan featured a front-sump design, this deep-sump pan was designed with a rear sump for use in a late-model Mustang application.

Run with a pan full of lightweight...

Run with a pan full of lightweight Lucas Pro Stock oil and the Cam Research Corp roller cam, the CHI-headed 302 produced peak numbers of 542 hp at 7,200 rpm and 418 lb-ft at 5,800 rpm. Better Boss indeed!
