Dart Machinery began in humble surroundings in 1981 in a two-car garage in Oak Park, Michigan. In the years since, Dart has become a leading manufacturer of aftermarket cylinder heads, intake manifolds, and engine blocks. This photo shows a Dart 347 short-block. The short-block is available ready to go and with one of the Dart top end kits installed, so are you. The short-block consists of a Dart Sportsman 302 block, which uses a 28-ounce externally balanced rotating assembly.

This Dart Top End Kit includes Dart Iron Eagle 180cc heads or 170/190cc Pro 1 aluminum heads. They come assembled with stainless steel valves and premium hardware. There is a choice of single- or dual-plane intake along with Dart-fabricated aluminum valve covers. Top end kits start at $1,682.12 for iron heads and $1,981.16 for aluminum heads.
Coast High Performance
Coast High Performance is famous for its line of Street Fighter stroker engines. It now offers both a 347ci short-deck crate engine while the 351 Windsor-based crate engines are available in 393 and 427 displacements. At Coast there are several different performance levels. They include the Street Fighter GT, the Street Fighter, Street Fighter Pro Street, and the Dominator. The engine we chose to examine was the Street Fighter Venom 427. The Coast High Performance Venom Street Fighter 427 is shown here. It's Coast's most popular displacement size for a tall-deck stroker engine.
