This is a typical camshaft and valvetrain layout. The camshaft (left)sports lobes on which the lifters ride. Pushrods between the lifter androcker arm take eccentric motion and turn it into linear motion up tothe rocker arm, which opens the valve in the cylinder head. View Related Article
