The timing set at the front of the engine ties the camshaft to thecrankshaft as shown. During timing set installation, timing marks on thecam and crank gears must be lined up perfectly at 12 and 6 o'clock inorder for the valves to operate in perfect time. Another bolt-oneccentric, not shown here, operates the mechanical fuel pump when acarburetor is used. View Related Article
