9 CK Performance utilizes six thinner clutches, but relies on aftermarket steel plates that are the same thickness as stock. This is done for better heat sink and prevents the clutches from burning up. The steel rings take the brunt of the heat instead of the clutches. A thinner steel ring would allow for eight clutches, but that would hold less power due to the heat problems. View Related Article
