APS Mini Starter for Fords
The Advanced Power System Starters (PN 5090) are now available from MSD [www.msdignition.com; (915) 857-5200] for Ford engines. The Ford APS Starter features a 3hp motor and a 4.4:1 gear-reduction ratio for extra torque. They also have a billet mounting block that can be located in different positions to allow for header and suspension clearance issues. We found the APS starter for a retail price of $230.99.

Nordskog Performance Products
'65-'66 Mustang LED Instrument Cluster
New from the folks at Nordskog Instruments [www.nordskoginstruments.com; (714) 991-9999] is this digital LED instrument cluster (PN DP5201), which is a direct fit for '65-'66 Mustangs. It fits into the stock opening and includes all the necessary sensors. Functions include oil pressure, water temperature, voltage, and fuel level. Speed and distance are monitored in the center dial. The unit can also be made to function in conjunction with an optional GPS receiver. The list price for the LED instrument cluster is $499.95.

Marquez Design
Mustang Door Striker
This door striker plate (PN 502) from Marquez Design [www.marquezdesign.com; (916) 373-9783] fits '65-'66 Mustangs and is made of 304 stainless steel. It's a nice replacement part for a custom touch. They cost $85 each.

Throttle-Body EFI System
Professional Products [www.professional-products.com; (323) 779-2020] introduces the Powerjection I throttle-body EFI system. It allows people to enjoy the benefits of electronic fuel injection and retain the conventional layout in the engine compartment. The system uses a throttle body that bolts in place of the carburetor on the intake manifold and uses a returnless fuel system for easy fuel-line plumbing. The throttle body is available in either die-cast or billet and conceals four high-pressure fuel injectors. The system includes the engine control processor and costs $1,800.

Steel Bellhousing
Quick Time [www.quicktimeinc.com; (641) 673-4468] displayed this SFI-approved steel bellhousing (PN RM-6065) to mate Ford small-block engines to Tremec TKO-500/600 transmissions, TR-3350, and T5 Mustang transmissions. The spun cone design is unique to Quick Time bellhousings. This one has a list price of $422.50.

Race Ready Performance
Five Inch Electric Exhaust Cut Out
If you like to operate your classic Ford both on the street and at the race track then you already know that there is power to be gained by opening up the exhaust for race night. The remotely actuated exhaust cut out costs $329.

RHS Pro Action Bare Cylinder Head
This RHS [www.racingheadservice.com; (877) 776-4323] Pro Action cylinder-head casting is for small-block Ford engines. It features 160cc volume intake runners for superior power-production characteristics. The head has a dual-bolt-pattern exhaust. The casting cost is yet to be determined but should be available by the time you read this.

Race Ready Rotating Assembly
This Race Ready heavy-duty reciprocating assembly (PN 94620-1) from Scat [www.scatcrankshafts.com; (310) 370-5501] includes a 4340 Ford 351 crankshaft with several different weight options available. The 4340 H-beam connecting rods are equipped with 7/16-inch rod bolts and forged-aluminum racing pistons. Complete balancing of the assembly is available. We found it with a cast crank and flat-top pistons for $1,485.95.

Sean Hyland has authored one of the best-selling books on modular-engine building and is now offering a DVD video version for those who want to get inside their modular. It takes up the same amount of space as a standard 14-inch air cleaner and uses a Spectre lifetime filter element. The airbox costs $169.99. Spectre offers several airbox designs, as well as custom ducting kits to fabricate cold-air systems or a remote-mount air filter setup. Sheetmetal small-block Ford valve covers are also new.
