The pin doesn't easily push into the rivet; it takes some directed force-a good bit of directed force, come to think of it. There was some serious puckering going on here as we used a pair of stacked hammers to apply the required force to push the pin into the rivet. To protect the glass from banging into the side-impact beam inside the door, we stuffed a hand towel behind the glass to protect it. Another household item lost to the shop forever.
