Halogen technology isn't the only thing that has changed aboutsealed-beam headlamps. Optics--the way the light is projected--haschanged too. Dating back to the beginning of sealed-beam headlights inthe early '40s, optics didn't change much (left). In the '70s,sealed-beam headlight optics was vastly improved to broadcast more lightacross a greater area ahead of the vehicle (right). Note the tighterelements in the lamp on the right, allowing the lamp to broadcast morelight across a greater area. View Related Article
