C Anashi 5pts The REIQ submitted that all properties get building and pest inspections before leasing, but were too stupid to realise that an inspection is just the first stage and that owners will be required to rectify any deficiencies found (like for pool fencing). Mr Kardash only sees the impact of the cost of inspections and ignores the cost of rectification. Half my owners (about 90) have indicated they will sell if the new requirements come in as it will be a massive financial obligations on them to rectify any problems (and every report raises things requiring rectification). REIQ say they are protecting their property manager members. Just goes to show how out of touch they are (and in particular MR Kardash and the meddling Chairwoman who confuses her misguided opinions for industry positions). The property managers will be protected, but only because there will be no more properties to manage as investors pour out of the industry.
