It has an edelrbrock carb & intake. Everything else is pretty much stock. Im trying to get my car to sound and get up and go better. What kind of cam, headers, muffler,exhaust system,etc should i get? I just inherited a 65 Galaxie 500, 390, factory 4bbl, heavy duty 3 speed column shift, factory 9" rearend, no ps-pb, 68k miles. Been in a shed for the last 20 yrs. Anyone know if a toploader 4 speed will bolt up and work using the 3 speed bellhousing, and clutch hardware, and if not, what do I need? The choke tube assembly is missing and I need to put a new one on. The assembly is a metal tube that goes from the block to the auto choke. I'm wondering if anyone has pictures or knows how this tube attaches to the block. At initial start up, my rpm fluctuate for few minutes until it becomes steady at 1000rpm. Sometimes, it drops to 500rpm and comes right back to 1000rpm or even stalls. When I tap the accelerator, rpm would stay up for few seconds until it drops back to 1000rpm. Anyone knows what is causing this unusual idling? If it was a four-cylinder Fox the booster will need to be swapped for the V-8 booster. The V-8 booster is a smaller diameter, but deeper. The four-cylinder one is more "pancake" in shape. There's no promise the V-8 will fit either, but if you have the four-banger booster it is a start... HTH... It's simpler if you remember that the spark starts a burn and not an explosion in the cylinder. So between K.I.T.T. of the new Knight Rider series and Bumblebee of the Transformers movies....which would you choose? This year Chevy wanted a piece of Raptor and decided to take the Silverado into an off road level. The F-150 Raptor recently received the new 6.2-liter V8 engine that pumps out 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque. At the same time the Raptor went into a new special edition segment with another Raptor dubbed the FR Raptor XT. The XT will be limited to a run of 50 units and is an extreme truck; it's not street legal and will sticker at $99,950. So you can see the Ford is pushing for the spotlight once again. Not to be outdone GM decided to bring a concept to the SEMA Show with the Chevy Silverado ZR2. The ZR2 has a supercharged 6.2L LSA V-8 under the hood creating a whopping 550hp. Thanks to the cavernous space below the Silverado's hood, the LSA and its six-speed automatic transmission dropped right in with little effort and Chevrolet easily fitted a custom stainless steel exhaust system. Being that it's only a concept no price is obviously given. It seemed that it always had one article about a S197, one featuring an SN95/New Edge car, a piece on a Fox and one on something else. This at a time when all the other rags forgot about everything except the new cars. I liked it so much that I let my subscriptions to MM&FF and 5.0 lapse and reupped my subscription in the middle of 08 for three years. Immediately thereafter you changed the format. In my opinion, it was not a good move, but I still enjoyed the publication for the most part. I still got a fairly healthy dose of 5.0-related information and the rest of the articles made good "reading room" material, if you know what I mean. I just received my December 09 issue and, as always, the first thing I turned to was your column. Not to suck up, but yours is one of the best and most entertaining editor's columns out there and I really looked forward to it each month. That said, this month's column was a HUGE disappointment. Taking Modified Mustangs and Fords to a classics only format will completely ruin it for me. I truly feel cheated out of my money by not one but two changes in format. I can take the current dose of classic content, as I like all Mustangs generally speaking, but I have absolutely no interest in an "all classics all the time" publication. As it sits now, I have two years of a magazine in which I have no interest left coming to me. I would like to see Source Interlink offer to transfer subscriptions from Modified to MMFF or 5.0 to those of us that don't want to complete our subscriptions. In short, I didn't subscribe to a magazine about classics. I own a 93 Saleen, an 85 Saleen and a highly modified 93 LX convertible and that is where my interest lies. While I like them, I do not, nor will I probably ever, own a classic Mustang or Ford. So why was it so popular....probably because it was fuel efficient and had lots of horsepower right?? Well not really!! It was a small compact fuel efficient car with great SYNC technology and great comfort. So what can you add to this great little compact car??....MORE HORSEPOWER!!!! Loder1899’s 2009 Focus RS pumps a total of 345-hp from the 2.5L turbocharged 5-cylinder engine, an increase of 45-hp over the base model. Loder1899 also added a stainless-steel exhaust system, which consists of a Y-pipe, Sportkats, and there is Vorschall silencer. The tuner says that the system provides an increase of 20-hp and a deeper sound than the original Focus RS. A 35mm suspension-lowering package is also part of the whole package along with 20-inch “Vertigo Viginti” wheels. Any thoughts?? NEED SUGGESTIONS ON: 1. I want to put a 5.4L in it and want it mated to a manual transmission that will not require a modification to the floor pan. Which one (if there is one) is a good one? 2. In the article a Heidts IFS was used, is that best one out there or is there a better one for this application? I was looking at RC Motorsports because you can buy their IFS piece-meal, which is more in line with my budget. 2A. What is better for a performance application, a typical aftermarket steel cross member (like on the Heidts & RC Motorsports) or a "K-member"? Have not come across any information on pro/cons on these. 3. I found an add for the FatMan Fabs tubular front end. Anyone have any experience with these or general information about that kind of setup? Any suggestions welcome!
