Week to Wicked 2013 Mustang Build Coming Soon!
Continental Tire presents Mustang360 Week to Wicked: Beginning January 15, MM&FF on Mustang360.com is transforming a stock S197 into a performance thrill ride!
If you haven’t already heard about the Week To Wicked program, it’s where we take a stock ride and build it up to a highly modified street thumper in just five days. Admittedly, everyone involved in the current build thinks it’ll be a little bit easier compared to the earlier projects; why is that? Our previous build was a 1966 Hardtop Coupe that we completed with our sister brand at Mustang Monthly.
While it required minimal bodywork and fresh coat of paint, it wasn’t impossible to handle, but it certainly made it a bit more challenging. Then you still need to factor in the time it took to swap out the original six-banger for a potent Ford Performance Parts 500hp crate engine (Z2363 pushrod Windsor). Nothing terribly difficult, but bear in mind that time is a limiting factor in these types of builds.
For this Week To Wicked session, we purchased a Ingot Silver 2013 GT out of Florida with exactly 81, 974 miles, which is pretty low for five year ride. The engine checked out strong, but we went ahead and made a stop at Jordan Performance and Racing in Ruskin, Florida to swap out the factory oil pump for a much stronger Ford Performance Parts oil pump with billet gears. We’re also planning to install a Roush Phase 2 supercharger assembly and wanted to make sure we eliminated any potential weak links.
Our hero build begins on January 15, and you can expect to see daily updates, including quite a bit of FaceBook live sessions, where you’ll get a behind the scenes look at the build and how we produce video segments. Of course, we’ll also have a large gallery that you can check out on Mustang-360.com.
We’ve already given you a hint of the things to come with the Roush supercharger, but we have a host of aftermarket manufacturers who are also involved, including Continental Tires; American Legend; Maximum Motorsports; Roush Performance; Gforce Engineering; Holley; DiabloSport; Hooker; Covercraft; Wizards Products; McLeod Racing; JLT Performance; Derale Performance; EBC Brakes; and E3 Spark Plugs. These are all heavy hitters in the Mustang aftermarket, so it should give you a hint of the fun things to come.
Once again, to stay up to date, be sure to head over to our FB page for all of the latest updates and Mustang360.com throughout the week of January 15 to check out everything as it happens. You’ll also want to keep an eye on the June 2018 issue of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords, where we’ll document the build. The entire Mustang360 staff will be all hands on deck for this build and there should be no shortage of installs to keep everyone busy. The real question is – can this be done in just five short days? Absolutely!
