A durometer measures the depth of an indentation in the material created by a given force. In racing, where thousandths of a second can count, a durometer is used to check whether a tire has gotten too hard as it has aged, compare different tires against each other, or see how a tire responds to a chemical tire softener. With Moroso’s new Short Type-A durometer, digitally read the hardness of your tires rubber when out on the racetrack to make sure you’re ahead of the racing pack.
