Standing Alone

There are already a ton of Mustangs running around with a MegaSquirt [(678) 261-8789; " rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.diyautotune.com] standalone engine management systems. However, the company's latest MS3-Pro offers even more features aimed directly at the Mustang. These features include a Freescale MC9S12X 16-bit, 50 MHz asymmetrical dual core processor; 10 saturated injector drivers; three high-current (5-amp) general purpose outputs; and camshaft and crankshaft differential inputs, among many others. The MS3-Pro supports a speed density or mass air-based combinations, a wide variety of OEM cam and crank position sensors; closed- or open-loop boost control with gear or speed-based tuning options; on/off or progressive nitrous control; traction control; two- or three-step rev limiter with no-lift shifting; and much more.

Watts the Word

Whiteline USA [(909) 476-2860; www.whiteline.com.au] has a new Performance Watt's linkage (PN KDT916; $999.90) for all '05-current Ford Mustangs with an 8.8 rear. Its unit is a 100-percent bolt-in upgrade and is constructed from 4130 chrome-moly. It features the company's synthetic elastomer bushings, which offer a quiet, non-squeak ride that also aggressively performs at the track. The kit features a differential cover with multiple settings to compensate for ride height and bearing preload bolts, as well as two integrated taps for differential cooling. The main brace design spreads the load evenly between six points of the differential cover, eliminating single-point stress.

Power and Impact

Ingersoll Rand [(704) 655-4000; www.ingersollrand.com] has a new line of IQV20 Series cordless tools and 20-volt lithium-ion batteries. Its W7150 1⁄2-inch High-Torque Cordless ImpacTool is just the first product released from this series. It's designed for all the tools in the line to run longer between charges, giving you the ability to do a lot of work on a single charge. It creates an impressive 1,100 ft-lb torque and 780 ft-lb reverse torque, is 9.4 inches from tip to tail, and weighs only 6.8 pounds. The chemical-resistant, patent-pending, metal-reinforced housing gives this tool maximum durability, while the lightweight, ergonomic design is reported to reduce operator fatigue.

Question Answered

Optima Batteries (888) 8-OPTIMA; www.optimabatteries.com] was always asked why it didn't have its own battery charger. Now the company does. Its Digital 1200 12V Performance Battery Charger is the result of the company's research and development. This unit enhances the performance of Optima and other AGM batteries, recovers deeply discharged batteries, and extends battery life. It also features a full-text LCD display for charging, maintaining, and fault-mode indication. Other innovative features include an integrated LED work light, ergonomically designed DC charging clamps, and USB charging for phones, cameras, and other gadgets.

Hood Snake

Early S197 people, we haven't forgotten about you, and neither has Shelby Performance Parts [(702) 405-3500; www.shelbyperformanceparts.com]. Originally produced for a short time only, Shelby's Deep Draw or Terlingua hood was designed for '05-'09 Shelby models, and will fit NA and Paxton-equipped Mustangs. However, with a Whipple or Kenne Bell supercharger, you must also specify Shelby's engine lowering kit for proper clearance. This hood design features aggressive lines that flow down from the windshield and drop into the two front vents for a unique look. With a variety of mounts available with purchase, these unique entirely handmade Terlingua hoods will fit any '05-'09 Mustang, and come with the vent grille material pre-cut.

Looking Trim

The back end of the '10-'12 Mustang seems to elicit the critiques of enthusiasts and the automotive press alike. To change that perspective, AmericanMuscle.com [(866) 727-1266; www.americanmuscle.com] offers these matte black taillight trim pieces (From $89.99). The trim is made from ABS plastic, is easy to install, and is also available in chrome or and even painted to match your Mustang's factory color for an extra charge. AmericanMuscle also carries these for '13 Mustang models, as well. Sold in pairs, give the competition something to remember you by as you leave them behind.

No More Trippin'

If there's one thing that drives us crazy it's hoses laying on the ground and getting in the way. Nothing will make you look like an idiot more than tripping over a hose in the garage or at the shop. To keep you from looking like that guy, check out Genuine Hotrod Hardware's Hose Holders from Summit Racing [(800) 230-3030;www.summitracing.com]. Genuine's hose holder is made from 18-gauge stainless steel with your choice of an etched pinstripe design, or a laser-cut crossed wrench design. And since it's made from stainless steel, you know it'll last.

Custom Expression

Whether repping your favorite team, waving your political flag, boasting your music savvy, or supporting a good cause, installing a bumper sticker is one of the most popular forms of expression. If you want unique signage for your 'Stang, 3M [(888) 3M-HELPS; www.3m.com] offers this new Custom Image Kit ($24.99). The comprehensive kit utilizes abrasive and film technology to let you apply your desired decal by hand. It also offers everything you need to complete the process in a series of simple steps, including details on how to create a custom image stencil, place the image stencil on your vehicle, and apply the image in a matte finish using a multi-step sanding process. The best part? You can remove the graphic if desired and restore the finish without any damage to your paint. That last feature will be especially handy with your Mustang.

Want your 'Stang to shine on the inside? This '05-'09 SVE billet interior starter kit from Latemodel Restoration [(866) 507-3786; www.latemodelrestoration.com] has everything you need to transform your interior. It includes a shifter bezel, a mirror control bezel, a headlight knob, a cupholder bezel, an e-brake handle cover, and A/C knobs. With Latemodel Restoration, you will enjoy free shipping on these parts, unless you live in Alaska or Hawaii. And if you live in Hawaii, we don't feel sorry for you having to pay the shipping.

Sounding the Part

Dynomax Performance Exhaust [(734) 384-7806; www.dynomax.com] knows the '10 Mustang GT is at a performance disadvantage compared to the latest Mustangs. To that end, the company offers an exhaust system capable of adding 18 hp and 17 lb-ft of torque to your right foot. Plus, these mufflers are designed to sound the part without droning your eardrums out of your head. The included DynoMax VT mufflers feature a precisely calibrated, patented internal valve that ensures maximum performance while providing a drone-free experience inside the vehicle. The mufflers, combined with 21⁄2-inch, OE-grade, 409 stainless steel piping and a pair of 4-inch, double-wall, slant-cut, logo-embossed steel tips will let others know your '10 GT is not stock.

More Power

We have so many toys inside our Mustangs these days that we need a battery designed to keep up. Bosch's [(888) 715-3616; www.boschautoparts.com] new Absorbed Glass Mat battery yields a high-energy capacity that has the power to handle a number of demands at once. It also has the endurance to perform at a high level day after day. Bosch S6 AGM batteries offer extended shelf life compared to standard lead-acid batteries. "Bosch 100-percent maintenance-free AGM batteries incorporate the only battery technology approved to be used inside the car, offer a four-year free replacement warranty and come with a free roadside assistance program," explained Andreas Tobler, product manager of energy systems for Bosch.

Synthetic Capacity

If you use synthetic oil in your Mustang, you now have a oil filter specifically designed for synthetic oil. Purolator [(800) 459-5599; www.purolatorautofilters.com] synthetic filter is built with 100-percent synthetic media that is custom-engineered to allow you to realize maximum benefits from synthetic motor oils. "Many people that use synthetic motor oils do so because they don't want the hassle of changing their vehicle's oil frequently," said Chuck Kerrigan, director Regional Business Unit, North America, for Purolator. "However, in order to take advantage of the extended life offered by synthetic oils, motorists also need an oil filter that has the ability to continue to capture and hold the tiny particulates that accumulate over time," Chuck added. These filters are designed to have substantially more capacity than conventional oil filters. This allows the filter to capture and safely hold more contaminants generated over the extended life of synthetic oils without getting clogged.
