Usually, overwhelming feelings of excitement radiate through any car owner at the sight of their beloved ride getting tied down to a dyno-jet, as it’s finally time to find out what those latest modifications and all the hard work that went into it brought.

At the outset, everything looks fine and dandy in Sherbrooke, Quebec, where this pretty Shelby GT500 is strapped down to the dyno and ready to roll. While it looks as though the Shelby has been properly secured, a guy runs up to try and tighten it while the Mustang is chasing down its numbers.

All of a sudden, a loud boom is heard and sparks fly everywhere as the Shelby keeps going strong and the dyno struggles to hold it together below. The dyno then fails, taking the GT500 down with it as crashing and crunching noises ensue and the dyno crumbles, piece by piece.

It’s a given that the dyno was destroyed, and you can bet that the Shelby suffered some suspension and transmission issues and likely more unseen heavy duty damage. What’s for certain is that the owner of the Shelby had a very, very bad day.

About the only good thing that came out of it was nobody was injured. The outcome could have been a lot worse if the parts had hit somebody and the car flew into a group of bystanders. While mobile dynos are common at large car events, it’s surprising that this doesn’t happen more often. If it does, we don’t hear about it that much.
