Snake and Mongoose Movie to Debut September 16th
In nature, things can turn ugly quick when a snake encounters a mongoose. That rings true for the two men based on the new movie, Snake and Mongoose. Most old-school racing enthusiasts would remember these two men, Don “The Snake” Prudhomme and Tom “The Mongoose” McEwen, battling it out on the drag strip for the top dog spot.
Starting back in the 1960s, these two were battling it out on dusty drag strips and trying to bring light to their “minor” sport. The movie Snake and Mongoose is based on a true story where the Southern California duo raced their high-performance machinery head-to-head toward the finish line.
While they battled it out on the track as rivals, could there be a bond shared by these two? These two men whole-heartedly changed the drag racing industry into something bigger and greater than anybody ever imagined. These two were the first drivers to land major sponsorships, which helped them run the best equipment on their cars.
"Snake” Prudhomme ended up conquering most battles and celebrated an NHRA career with multiple titles to his name including seven in the U.S. and four worldwide. “The Mongoose” McEwen didn’t quite obtain that level of success.
Check out the trailer for the new movie set to debut on September 6th 2013. It follows the lives of both drivers as they battle it out on the drag strip. It’s a fantastic look into two men who helped change the world of drag racing.
You can expect to see real National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) footage during the movie from the real-life Prudhomme and McEwen.
