Octane Academy Complimentary Driving Experience For Focus ST, Fiesta ST Owners
If you own a Ford Focus ST or Fiesta ST, you are invited to try out a complimentary Octane Academy driving experience provided by Ford and Ford Racing instructors at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. Initial owners of the 2013 and 2014 Focus ST and 2014 Fiesta ST will be able to test their cars to the max with a professional instructor. The schedule will be announced later on this summer.
"We gave the all-new Fiesta ST the highest possible fun-to-drive factor,” said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, global product development. “It’s fast, it handles brilliantly, but it won’t beat you up in daily driving. Add to that its affordability, and we think enthusiasts have reason to rejoice. It’s really that good.”
Test the limits of your ST with the Ford ST experience with extensive course time and professional driving instruction. The course is in place to show drivers hands-on performance ability of their cars and to improve driving skills. Who knew learning could be this fun?
This competitive driving experience is inspired by the television series Octane Academy featuring Ken Block, Brian Deegan, Tanner Foust, and Vaughn Gittin Jr. If you haven’t watched the show, it includes amateur drivers competing against each other for a chance at a professional racing career. The competitors are put to the test by performing driving and action sport challenges put on by the four professional drivers. The best competitor ultimately wins the Octane Academy.
Miller Motorsports Park provides the Focus and Fiesta ST cars modified with full safety equipment so no need to bring your own car all the way to Utah for the experience. All that is required on the owners’ part is to arrange travel to Salt Lake City, Utah. If interested, an optional day of off-road testing the F-150 SVT Raptor and track-testing the Mustang GT is available.
If making the trip to Utah, be prepared for a visit to the Hoonigan Racing Headquarters, Ken Block’s race shop in Park City. This will include a tour of the facilities, a look into ongoing projects, dinner and a reception.
Next day will take place at Miller Motorsports Park where owners will start with a classroom session with school instructors. After that it is learning car control, cornering, braking, and vehicle dynamic techniques with lunch provided.
Fast forward to the afternoon and more on-track driving will include instructor ride alongs and hot laps with professional instruction. This will include precise driving exercises and challenges on a custom circuit. At the end of the day, owners will receive a special graduation pack trailed by an ST karting challenge.
The owners will only be responsible for hotel and travel pricing, and Ford covers the driving school cost entirely. If interested in the Raptor and Mustang driving experience, that will have to be paid by the participant. Options for bringing guests will be available. Check out www.stoctaneacademy.com.
