Warriors in Pink Announces 2013 Models for Change
New Collection Donates All Net Proceeds to Fighting Cancer
By now, most Ford fanatics have no doubt heard of Ford’s Warriors in Pink campaign that raises money for and honors those involved in the battle against breast cancer. This year marks the campaign’s 19th anniversary, with 100 percent of the proceeds from the sales of the 2013 Ford Warriors in Pink apparel and accessories collection going straight toward the fight against breast cancer.
Since its inception, Warriors in Pink has raised $120 million in all, with $4.7 million of that brought in through donations from Warriors wear and gear. The collection isn’t just for women, but for men and children as well. The collection includes symbols signifying hope, strength, and unity for the fight against breast cancer. Visit www.fordcares.com and check out the whole new collection.
In addition, a program launched last year called “Models of Courage” highlights the stories of breast cancer survivors will continue on through this year as well. Eleven women and men have been chosen to serve as Warriors in Pink role models in an effort to inspire those battling the disease. For 2013, Models of Courage role models will travel around the country as ambassadors for Ford, sharing their stories of survival with those in need of some inspiration and encouragement.
“As long as breast cancer affects our moms, sisters, daughters, fathers and sons we will continue to fight,” said Tracy Magee, Ford’s primary brand experiential manager, in a statement. “The personal stories and experiences of the Models of Courage will help raise awareness, as well as inspire those battling breast cancer to continue the fight. Their stories inspire me every day.”
The Models of Courage will also appear as models for the new 2013 line of Warriors in Pink gear. A film called “Bang the Drum: Living Out Loud in the Face of Breast Cancer” is available to view at www.fordcares.com featuring short stories of what the breast cancer diagnosis meant for each of these role models and how they battled the challenges head on while gaining a new perspective on life.
Ford Warriors in Pink is also teaming up with Remo, Inc. to produce a line of percussion instruments. For each sale, $5-20 donations will be made to charities sponsored by Ford that will support research and education, plus offer financial aid for those in treatment. On top of that, autographed drumheads will hit eBay for ten days starting on June 3, with 100 percent of the pledged amount donated to breast cancer charities. The autographs will come from big names such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, No Doubt, Montgomery Gentry, Jerrod Niemann and Band, Dierks Bentley, Steve Smith, and Frank Vanderbilt.
In addition, Ford Warriors in Pink is giving breast cancer supporters an awesome opportunity to win a Warriors in Pink Fusion Hybrid capable of 47 highway miles per gallon. Check out the sweepstakes here.
