If you haven't logged into the Ford website lately to check out the latest gift to Mustang enthusiasts, you should run to your nearest computer right now. No, wait--finish reading this first, because you are sure to disappear into a deep abyss of creativity for at least a few hours while you explore endless possibilities with the brand new 2012 Ford Mustang Customizer. The Blue Oval Mustang team has upped the ante once again and given us another reason to proudly bleed Ford blue. Your family might actually come looking for you--don't say we didn't warn you.

Our Steeds are a direct reflection of our personal taste and individuality as many of us modify our Ford products from bumper to bumper, some shoot for style, some power, and others love to have both. Each passing model year, Ford brings the factory Mustang closer and closer to perfection with new colors, better handling, increased power, improved safety, and all at a fair price. Even still, every Mustang lover has a vision of what their ultimate Pony would look like if they could construct it by picking their own color, body kit, and driveline. So many Stang owners have settled for a stock-looking ride, but all the while having the intention of overhauling it by purchasing aftermarket body modifications and custom paint. Of course you'd finish off the look by ordering a shiny new set of wheels to truly make it your own.

But what if you could actually design a 2012 (and soon a 2013) Mustang to your exact appearance specifications? Okay, so the current Mustang Customizer is mostly fantasy, but you can bet Ford is testing the waters--as we envision the day where you can design your own Mustang package and Ford will build you a totally personalized machine.

The customizer is an amazing tool, having over 20 wheel options, so you are sure to find something that will fit into your vision of perfection, whether it's a modern race-inspired wheel or a more nostalgic style. And the small details weren't overlooked; from louvers to stylish decklid variations, to mirror colors, there's a good chance your new Stallion will be a rare breed when you get done with it.

We recall the days of awesome and unique Mustang colors like Grabber Blue, Screaming Yellow or Sonic Blue. Now you can have fun designing the perfect hue that might take you back to the days of banging gears in your cammed-out Calypso Green 5.0. Or you can design something fresh to stand out with an electric blue or green.

Let's not divert from the fact that the customizer program was built with entertainment in mind. If you are looking to kill some time in the office, we can't think of a better cure for boredom than this--plus it's a safer bet than trying to sneak a powernap at your desk. Just fire up the customizer and build your mild or wild Mustang, then top it off with an epic smoky burnout. It's also a great tool for parents to have fun with their kids. You can choose from a number of cool backdrops to showcase your creation, view your ride from every angle, and download the images as high-resolution wallpaper--for free!

If you have a competitive itch, battle it out with other enthusiasts and see where you stack up by submitting your unique build to be voted on. Now, settle into a comfortable chair and login to www.ford.com/cars/mustang or download the app for iPhone and Android for a fun session of designing your own V6, GT, Boss 302, or GT500 Mustang.

As an added bonus, your author and staff of MM&FF each designed a Mustang that we'd like to own. We encourage you to follow the link to our Facebook page where you can vote. Then Build your own Mustang and post a picture of it on our FB page. Our staff will select a lucky winner, who will win a free one-year subscription and an official MM&FF license plate.
