The Auto Alliance Mustang factory in Flat Rock, Michigan was the scene of the 2012 Cobra Jet delivery party April, 1st 2011. Cobra Jet buyers were invited to pick up their rare turn-key Ford Mustang Cobra Jet race cars right at the factory. Any excuse for a little sheet cake and some Ford racing history works for us.

The 2012 edition of the Cobra Jet race cars come with a supercharged, 5.4 liter aluminum block engine with a double-keyed crankshaft and Manley H-beam rods. The base CJ supercharger is the 2.3-liter TVS with a 65mm twin-bore throttle body. There is an optional 4.0-liter Whipple Supercharger offered to those who want to race in the highest levels of the NHRA Super Stock competition. The $9995.00 option includes the 4.0 supercharger, billet throttle-body, complete inlet system with 140mm billet mass-air housing, installation instructions, and exclusive Ford Racing race-ready calibration.

The transmission is a 3-speed C4 automatic with a full race prep. For 2012 there's even a two-step rev controller. An improved rear suspension with upgraded rear upper and lower control arm mounts work in conjunction with the revised front and rear springs and adjustable damper tuning. This new suspension will be hooked to a Ford 9-inch rear axle with a 4.29:1 Strange Engineering ring and pinion and low-drag brakes. Goodyear Cobra Jet-branded slicks with a new compound for the 2012 model will adorn each car with black anodized Weld racing wheels on the front with center caps that have the cars production number on them on all four wheels.

The interior is NHRA Stock Eliminator-legal and the cage is NHRA certified to 8.50. The 3,200-lb Cobra Jets come in three colors now at no extra cost. Winner White, Grabber Blue and Race Red are your choices for 2012 and Ford offers a Graphics Package option for $1,995.00, that includes Powered by Ford fender emblems, Sweeping Snake side graphics, 5.4L Cobra Jet hood graphics, Ford Racing windshield header decal, Ford oval front fascia decals, Ford oval license plate decal and a FR500CJ deck lid decal.
