Modified Mustangs & Fords
Held July 12 - 14 2013
It’s time for the 7th annual Barrington Concours d’Elegance from July 12-14, 2013 at the Makray Memorial Golf Club in Barrington, Illinois. American Muscle cars from the 1960s will be on display such as the first aftermarket Shelby – the 1965 Shelby GT350. Other classic rides that will be on display include the ’67 Shelby GT500 and 1962 Chevy 409 Bel Air.
"Carroll Shelby put his stamp on automotive history with the creation of the Shelby GT350,” said Cooper. “It wasn’t long before manufacturers like Mercury, Dodge, Chevrolet, and Oldsmobile began introducing their own muscle cars, making the streets and tracks a little faster and more impressive.”
"American muscle cars are revered around the world for their power and performance,” said David Cooper Concours Co-Chair and Chief Executive Officer. “The popularity of these vehicles came from manufacturers packing their largest engines in their smaller vehicles. Their performance created a following that changed the world of performance automobiles in a way never before seen.”
The Concours celebrates all year long with more than ten featured events. Some of the muscle cars to be displayed at Barrington will include some of the world’s finest and rarest vehicles, including a collection of Corvettes, Porsches, Duesenbergs, Avions Voisins, Indy cars, Vincent motorcycles, and of course a few of our favorite historic pony cars.
The Barrington Concours d’Elegance is a charitable event supporting the Legends & Legacies Foundation, a non-profit organization (in progress), with proceeds supporting The Barrington Area Conservation Trust in 2013. More events are scheduled for later this year, one including the Concours’ move to Chicago in June of 2014.
