Exactly one year after the passing of automotive legend, Carroll Shelby, the Shelby American Automobile Club (LASAAC) will celebrate his life with its first annual Carroll Shelby Tribute and Car Show on May 11th, 2013. The event will be held at the Shelby headquarters in Gardena, California, with all proceeds benefiting the Carroll Shelby Foundation. The Foundation is dedicated to providing medical assistance to children and others in need, offering educational opportunities to young car enthusiasts interested in making a future in the automotive industry, and of course, benefiting the Shelby Automotive Museum.

"Carroll Shelby changed the course of history and touched millions of lives through his racing, his companies and his charity,” said Randy Richards, LASAAC president, in a statement announcing the vent. “He challenged us to honor his legacy by continuing his work. This annual event will be a celebration for everyone who shares Carroll’s passion for performance and pursuit of excellence, while also supporting causes he truly believed in.”

The gates will open at 10 a.m. pacific time, and the day’s events include a Ford and Shelby car show, awards ceremony, a panel discussion led by Rick Titus, and a Texan-style chili bar with special guests including Don Prudhomme, John Morten, and Alan Grant. Last but not least, an engine rev salute will be held in honor of the man himself.

There is no charge to attend, but a $10 donation will net you a show decal, with proceeds going to the Foundation. If you’re interested in showing off your Shelby vehicle, a $20 registration fee is required and the form can be found here on the Foundation’s Web site, wwww.carrollshelbyfoundation.org. LASAAC will honor the top vehicles with awards from each class, including the old-school GT350s and GT500s, original Cobras, GT40s and the old ‘80s Dodge Shelby models.

Last year during Carroll Shelby’s memorial at the Peterson Automotive Museum, the turnout was incredible. Enthusiasts all over the world were encouraged to rev their engines in a salute to Carroll, his life, and career, which helped to shape the modern day automotive industry.

We’re so excited to share this tribute of an American legend with all of the Shelby and automotive fans around the world,” said Jenni Shreeves, executive director of the Carroll Shelby Foundation in the statement. “Carroll genuinely valued the people who admired and owned his cars. Giving them a chance to be a part of the ‘Rev Your Engine’ salute around the world is truly what he would want."

During the show, exclusive Shelby Legacy Collection items and Shelby branded apparel will be up for sale, with all of the money benefiting the Foundation. Sponsors onsite will include DenBeste Motorsports, McCluskey LTd., Galpin Motorsports, and Retrosports.
