Ford’s EcoBoost engine suite has proven popular for the automaker, but of course, there are always prospective new customers to try and reach. So in an effort to get more folks interested in the benefits of EcoBoost power and Ford as a whole, the automaker is rolling out a special program called the Ford EcoBoost Challenge, which offers up the chance to drive EcoBoosted versions of vehicles including Ford Fusion and Escape as well as the highly-anticipated Ford Fiesta ST sport subcompact. This tour starts later this month and will be coming to 13 cities across the country.

"Ford is delivering on its promise to give fuel-efficiency-minded customers the power of choice, by offering a lineup that includes five electrified vehicles, two plug-in hybrids and eight vehicles available with EcoBoost Technology,” said Ford’s David Mondragon in a statement announcing the tour. “Throughout this tour, we will let consumers experience the technology that helps deliver better fuel economy and engaging driving than the competition."

On selected Saturdays throughout the summer and into September, folks will have to opportunity to test out EcoBoost-powered cars in a number of situations. Featured events include the ST Performance Academy (that’s the one we’d try) and a hyper-mile challenge featuring Ford hybrid vehicles going head-to-head on an EcoBoost challenge course.

Ford’s EcoBoost turbocharged, direct-injected gas-powered engines are designed to conserve fuel and also maintain a healthy amount of power. In North America, EcoBoost sales have made Ford the king in gasoline turbo direct-injected engines in passenger vehicles including the Fusion, F-150, and Escape. By the end of 2013, some 90 percent of Ford’s lineup in the States will have an EcoBoost engine option.
