It was a sad day for many when realization sank in that they did not win the 2013 Mustang Dream Giveaway sponsored by WorldCause Foundation. However, July 4, 2013 changed one Michigan man’s life forever as he became the owner of not one, but two matching Shelby Ford Mustangs – a classic red 1968 Shelby GT500 and a brand-new 2013 Shelby GT500.

Mr. William Strickler was awarded both cars along with $50,000 cash to help pay for the federal withholding requirement for taxes. Strickler entered the drawing with a $300 tax-deductible donation and ended up with the grand prize.

Mr. Strickler, joined by his brother-in-law Travis Sagrillo and Travis’ father Marc Sagrillo, accepted the prize at the award ceremony that took place on Thursday, August 15th, at Alternative Automotive Technologies in Troy, Michigan. Key executives from the Dream Giveaway were there to present both sets of keys to Mr. Strickler.

It all started with a phone call on July 15th. "When I went on the website and saw my name I almost fell over,” Mr. Strickler said at the time, a Mustang enthuasist his entire life.

Since taking both Shelbys home, he has set aside some time to enjoy both cars, “I absolutely love them!,” Mr. Strickler said. “Showing the cars to everyone who wants to see them has been exhausting, but I think I will survive!"

With the incredible amount of donations received from the event, WorldCause Foundation awarded grants to DAV, Henry Ford Health System, the Carroll Shelby Foundation, and the PVA Outdoor Recreation Heritage Fund.

Dream Giveaway would like to thank the following companies for their generous support: Ford; Ford Racing; Carlisle Events; Roadwire; Distinctive Industries; Classic Soft Trim; and a host of aftermarket suppliers.

The WorldCause Foundation (WCF) is a humanitarian organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for all inhabitants on this planet.
