Our budget Fox-body engine build is underway in the Snapon Tech Center at MM&FF headquarters in Tampa, Florida. The engine build, which consists mostly of budget-minded parts, is replacing the tired stock engine in Associate Online Editor Stephanie Davies' '92 LX hatch.

The upcoming story covering this build and install will be one of the main tech stories in our one-off Fox-body issue, 1979-'93 Mustang Performance, which will be on newsstands November 19th. This will be the second consecutive year for our Fox-body special, and we are looking forward to another great issue. Other topics in this special issue include a direct-port nitrous install, IRS swap, supercharger buyer's guide, easy Fox fixes, and a methanol injection install.

The budget engine build is based on a $999.99 economy short-block from LatemodelRestoration.com. We're splurged for some RHS heads, and valvetrain operation will be handled by Comp Cams components. Other contributors are ARP, Performance Distributors, SPEC, Top Street Performance, Fel-pro, Ford Racing Performance Parts, DeatschWerks, and BBK Performance.

Check out our special issue when it hits newsstands for the full install, dyno, and track test!
