With big anniversaries this year for both SVT and the 289

Hi-Po engine, the 2013 Carlisle Ford Nationals is shaping up as a big celebration for Mustang milestones.

Scheduled for the June 7-9 weekend at the Carlisle Fairgrounds in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, the event will incorporate a 20th Anniversary SVT display and a 289 High Performance Reunion, plus a special Team Shelby Grand National.

The SVT 20th anniversary will be housed in Building Y, showcasing not only Mustangs but also Lightnings, Contours, Raptors, and other SVT vehicles. As part of the gathering, Marcie Cipriani will be attending with the SVTOA group. Although the Hi-Po Reunion will celebrate the introduction of the pre-Mustang 289 High Performance engine in 1963, the celebration will include a number of special Hi-Po Mustangs from ’65-‘67.

Team Shelby comes back to Carlisle too, this time hosting a special Grand National event. The gathering starts with a Team Shelby Pre-Poker Run Party in Winchester, Virginia, followed by a scenic Poker Run to Carlisle for a celebration party with awards, Team Shelby BBQ, and Saturday lunch.

For the first time, the gates will open on Thursday as part of Carlisle's new “early bird” day to give swap meet buyers a jump on the weekend and also serve as a set-up day for everyone else.

The Carlisle Expo Center will once again serve as home base for Ford’s “Go Further” Ride and Drive Experience, where Ford-branded cars will be available for free test drives. Onsite installations, including the Mustang Garage, will also return. Additionally, details are being worked out for Ford-hosted interactive test drives with professional drivers so passengers can see what certain Ford rides can do on the autocross track.

Saturday night will once again feature a Downtown Ford Parade and Street Party benefitting the Downtown Carlisle Association. Led by representatives from Ford, over 400 Mustangs and Fords will cruise into the downtown area for live music and food.

Additional activities throughout the weekend include a burnout competition, beauty contest, Kids at Carlisle activities center, Women’s Oasis, autograph sessions, industry guests, and more.
