It was a sad day for many, but it was an exciting day for 46-year-old William Strickler from Mt. Pleasant, Michigan because he just found out he won the 2013 Mustang Dream Giveaway! Mr. Strickler is now the proud owner of two unique matching Shelby Mustangs, a 1968 Shelby GT500 and a matching 2013 Shelby GT500. In addition to the sweet Shelbys, Strickler will receive an additional $50,000 to help with the prize taxes.

Strickler entered the contest on May 15, 2013 by making a $300 tax-deductible donation. Members of DG Group, Inc. were there to congratulate him when he received the phone call of a lifetime.

“When I went on the website and saw my name I almost fell over,” Mr. Strickler said. “I contacted my Dad and told him I had won and he couldn’t believe it either. It definitely took a few days for everything to sink in.”

Mr. Strickler spends his free time skiing, mountain biking, and elk hunting. He works at an energy business called Strickler Resources, a company that he owns alongside his father. Three years ago Strickler saw the Dream Giveaway ad in Mustang Monthly and has entered the contest ever since.

"I have enjoyed Mustangs since I was kid,” Mr. Strickler said. “My mother had a Mustang when I was younger, but these are the first Mustangs I have ever owned. I definitely consider myself to be a Mustang enthusiast. I can’t decide if I like the old one or the new one better, but I like the fact that I am going to have a chance to decide."

Come August 16th, 2013 and a ceremony will be held at Alternative Automotive Technologies in Troy, Michigan where Strickler will accept his amazing Grand Prize. Even during all of the commotion over winning, Strickler still doesn’t forget that his donation is benefiting some great causes.

"When I entered it wasn’t about me and it wasn’t about the cars rather it was about the charitable causes I knew my donation would benefit. It was all about the causes and the wonderful work they do."
