Most of us grew up playing with toy cars before graduating to the full-size toys we tinker on in the garage. Whether it was collecting die-cast automobiles or building our own custom machines in LEGO form, toys helped us down the path to life as gearheads. With the launch of the new LEGO Creator Expert 1967 Mustang Fastback those worlds get closer together.

“Discover the magic of an iconic 1960s American muscle car with the LEGO Creator Ford Mustang, featuring dark-blue bodywork with white racing stripes, bonnet scoop, printed mustang grille badge, GT emblems and 5-spoke rims with road-gripping tires,” says Lego. “Developed with input from Ford, this authentic replica comes with optional add-ons for customization, including a selection of license plates, supercharger, rear ducktail spoiler, beefy exhaust pipes, front chin spoiler and a nitrous oxide tank.”

That’s right, you can build this Mustang up from a 1,471-piece kit up with a stock 390 big-block or you could add a nitrous bottle, a giant Roots blower, or both. The obvious choice is both, but either way, it features authentic Mustang styling, functional steering, and a moveable shifter in the console.

Measuring over a foot long, this 1967 Mustang Fastback will look great on your desk or in your kid’s room, but it doesn’t carry the Creator Expert moniker for no reason. It is meant to offer a challenging build, and it is recommended that you are old enough to have a real driver’s license before tackling the project.

For those seeking a project car that won’t take years to complete, the Lego Creator Expert 1967 Mustang GT Fastback will be available at shop.LEGO.com beginning on March 1, 2019 for $149.99.

Available on March 1 for $149.99, the LEGO Creator Expert 1967 Mustang Fastback Kit is designed to create a detailed representation of the classic Mustang from 1,471 LEGO bricks.
Beyond the basic 390ci big-block underhood, builders can add a series of upgrades, including Zoomie headers and a big Roots blower.
Not only can you upgrade the engine and add a nitrous bottle to the trunk, but builders can also choose from a number of custom license plates.
