We recently had a chance to sit down with the Mustang Owner’s Museum staff at the 2017 SEMA show and get an update on the museum’s build out. Currently the ground has been staked out and grading of the property for drainage, setback, etc. has commenced. Things are moving a bit slower than all involved parties would like, but if you’ve ever built a home or been involved in construction you know deadlines are often “soft” and move around.

The museum staff is working on an existing building at the property site that they currently plan to open in early December of this year as a museum office and showroom. This location will be open five days a week and will display somewhere between five and 10 Mustangs along with sample exhibits, a display of Mustang books, and more. Mustang Monthly is also currently in talks with the museum for some marketing and sponsored programs as well and we hope to be a part of the museum for many years to come.

For 2018 the museum is looking at hosting the following events, so put them on your calendar now.

-50th Anniversary of the 1968 Mustang, June 22-24, 2018
Featuring the California Special and Cobra Jet

-Veteran Mustang Event, July 4-7, 2018
Currently in discussion to have Bill Goldberg’s Lawman Boss Mustang at the event

-Cancer Survivor Mustang Event, Sept. 21-23

-50th Anniversary of the Movie Release Bullitt (date TBD)
The museum is currently working on having both Bullitt movie cars at the event

The heavy equipment has rolled in and after the ground breaking ceremony grading has commenced with work moving steadily through the holidays.
