Around the office if it has four wheels (or even two!) we enjoy talking about it. Sure, we love a good Ford versus Chevy tete-a-tete with a coworker, but we’re all enthusiasts here. From Hot Wheels and Matchbox collections, to who has the cooler diecast on their desk, the water cooler is always a great place to discuss our affinity for anything that has wheels. For some of us that includes the radio control hobby as well.

Radio control, or R/C for short, has been around for decades, but it has only been in the last ten years or so we’ve seen the efficiency of electric motors and batteries improve to really have some lasting fun with them. Top it off with a fully licensed body (we all love to build “mini me” versions of our project cars) and you just one upped your co-worker with a killer Mustang R/C car that is ten times cooler than their static diecast paperweight!

Traxxas is one of the biggest names in the R/C hobby and they’ve had a licensing relationship with Ford Motor Company for several years now, releasing Mustang, Focus, and F-150 Raptor R/C models. On the heels of their recent licensing agreement with Bigfoot 4x4, which resulted in a Monster Jam Bigfoot replica truck, is its latest release that everyone has been asking for—The Original Monster Truck, Bigfoot No. 1.

Bigfoot No. 1 started life as a 1974 F-250 and was later updated with a 1979 F-series body. The real truck, made famous in the 1981 movie Take This Job and Shove It, is still around today and uses 5-ton military axles (with four wheel steering), and has 14 shocks. The power comes from a 640ci big-block Ford backed by a C6 transmission and the whole rig, including its famous Firestone 66x43x25 tires, weighs in at a massive 11,000 pounds.

For fans of the original Bigfoot No. 1 Traxxas has faithfully recreated the look with a fully licensed Ford F-series XLT Ranger body in 1/10th scale with original Bigfoot graphics, the Predator “carburetors” poking through the hood, KC lights on the bumper and roll bar, and more. Based off of Traxxas’ ever popular Stampede chassis, everything is included in the box to get you going. Just charge up the battery and start crushing cars in your driveway (or on your co-workers desk!). You can find Traxxas vehicles at Summit Racing, Pep Boys, and your local hobby shop.
