The month of January is a time where most people are still spending not-so-quality time out in the driveway clearing off the flaky, white stuff called snow. Floridians don’t tend to have that problem. Snow is not an issue, so the show season is already getting kicked off this weekend as National Parts Depot’s (NPD) Ford and Mustang Roundup takes place at Silver Springs State Park in Ocala, Florida.

“We’ve held the Mustang and Fords show in January at Silver Springs in Ocala, Florida for the past 22 years. We've experienced great turnouts for this show, mostly due to the lush grounds and glass bottom boats at Silver Springs State Park that provides a family-fun setting that’s a great alternative to a parking lot show. 2016 started a new chapter in the show’s history, as we changed from the traditional 2-day event format to a Saturday-only event. That will continue for the 2017 event, and we will have the band ’65 Fastback playing on the main stage,” show organizer Derek Putnam states.

Various Mustang clubs always make the Ford and Mustang Roundup. Whether it’s the Yellow Mustang Registry, or Bullitt clubs, or local Mustang clubs, all are heavily represented at the NPD show.

The show takes place this Saturday January 7th, but on Friday January 6th is the annual Pony Trails all-Ford cruise from NPD’s Ocala, Florida location to Cedar Key. Prior to the cruise, attendees are treated to NPD’s private car and truck collection, which is a can’t-miss in this author’s eyes. If you want to see some cool cars, don’t miss the Pony Trails day this Friday.

As for Saturday’s Ford and Mustang Roundup, the event is usually home to 1,000-plus Fords and Mustangs. Registration is free for pre-1993 vehicles, but only $10 for 1994 and later Fords. All entry fees go to Silver Springs State Park, but even if you don’t show a vehicle, you can still enjoy the show for $8 a vehicle (Includes all occupants), or $5 if you don’t have any friends. The registration form and online registration can be found at www.npdlink.com (Click the “Events” tab, then “Silver Springs Ford and Mustang Roundup). We’ll see you there.

Even if it’s not a Mustang, the Ford and Mustang Roundup has a spot for your F150, Lightning, and the like. If it’s Ford-powered, it’s welcome at the show. Also, awards are handed out for each Ford and Mustang category the day of the show, so you can take home some hardware, as well.
