One of the easiest ways for a manufacturer to enter a certain market is to get involved with said market. Case in point, ididit, a manufacturer more known in the street rod circles, is looking to make a big splash in the drag racing market with its new Pro Lite steering column. What’s the best way to help market that fact? Well, sponsor a drag class, of course.

That’s exactly what ididit did when it decided to sponsor the Outlaw True Street class at the upcoming NMRA Spring Break Shootout, taking place March 2nd-5th, 2017. “ididit is making a big splash in the drag market with our new Pro Lite steering column for the sportsman racers that require column accessory features. It is very exciting to sponsor this new specialty class and be involved with ProMedia Events,” said Bud Keating, General Manager at ididit, Inc. “The NMRA Spring Break Shootout is one of the biggest Ford races of the year and we are looking forward to being a part of the action!”

Fox Mustangs like that of Steeda Autosports’ own Scott Boda are ideal for Outlaw True Street, and we hope a Ford-powered Mustang takes the win.

The Outlaw True Street class is an eighth-mile, no-time class open to Mustangs with any engine under the hood. Yes, all you guys that have swapped your Mustang over to the dark side have a place to race with the NMRA. Outlaw True Street competitors still have to complete a 30-mile cruise, but are exempt if they are also entered into QA1 True Street. Pairings are done via drawing chips each round to determine match-ups, while a coin flip determines lane choice.

Outlaw True Street mandates a 28x11.5-inch or smaller bias-ply DOT tire, or 275 radial to compete, and sissy sticks are prohibited. Mickey Thompson’s ET Street Radial, size P305/45R17 is also legal for the class. Any engine, any power adder, and any exhaust exit are legal, but the car must be Ford-bodied. Just like in QA1 True Street, Outlaw True Street cars must be registered, insured, and tagged.

Outlaw True Street will take place Saturday night March 4th, 2017 as part of the 23rd Annual NMRA Nitto Spring Break Shootout’s grudge night. Street Outlaws personalities Bobby Ducote and BoostedGT will also grudge race that night so you won’t want to miss any of the action.
