The Galpin Rocket, a supercharged super car based off of the 2015 to current Ford Mustang and hand built with an all carbon fiber body, made serious waves in the automotive performance pool when first announced as a drivable proof of concept back in 2015. Its designer, Henrik Fisker, was often seen driving the vehicle all over southern California the last two years while Galpin Motors fine-tuned the build concept and searched for a capable build partner to meet international sales demand for the Rocket.

The Galpin Rocket has officially started production and has been renamed the VLF Rocket V8. Production will come via VLF Automotive. With Henrik Fisker as a partner at VLF, the company became a natural fit, as they could achieve fast volumes of limited production. VLF Automotive is an American luxury sports car company, and was founded by former General Motors Vice Chairman Bob Lutz, entrepreneur and manufacturer Gilbert Villarreal and legendary automotive designer Henrik Fisker. VLF Automotive features not only a state-of-the-art development and manufacturing facility in Auburn Hills, Michigan, but a design and technology center in Los Angeles as well.

“With Henrik as a partner at VLF and their extensive track record of success, there was no question that they would be the best fit. We look forward to a great relationship with VLF and to seeing these beautiful cars on the road soon,” said Beau Boeckmann, President of Galpin Motors.

While based off of Ford’s Mustang GT chassis, the handmade coach built carbon fiber body features sculpted and muscular cues including flared fenders, front splitter, rear spoiler, enlarged rear diffuser, and more. High-speed downforce is enhanced by the diffuser and new carbon fiber aero skirts. The stock 5.0L DOHC V-8 is enhanced with a supercharger to make 725hp while rolling stock is upgraded with custom 21-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli rubber. The Rocket’s Exposed Carbon Fiber Package includes exposed carbon fiber hood stripes and mirror covers. Other options include Brembo brakes, custom paint and a Full Leather Interior Package with hand-finished Italian leather seats, center console, door panels and rear interior deck panel, as well as suede-lined A, B and C pillars.
