Registration for Optima Battery’s Search for the Ultimate Street Car opened today, January 24th, 2017, at www.driveoptima.com. For several years now, participants in Optima’s event series have competed at regional events with the goal of making their way to the final event of the season in Las Vegas immediately after the annual SEMA show. These enthusiasts from across the country are invited to get behind the wheel and compete against other amateur racers at some of the nation’s most iconic tracks. There are several classes to allow pretty much anything on the road to compete and annually we see everything from vintage Ford Falcons and Mustangs, to hot hatches like the Focus ST and of course all manner of late-model Mustangs competing as well.

Each event includes five categories to compete in, including design and engineering, road rally, speed-stop challenge, an autocross, and a road course event. Full rules and class info can be found on the event website. With registration open and the full event schedule listed below, there’s bound to be an event near you, so whether you want to attend as a spectator, or you think your Ford has what it takes to topple the current three-time winner Danny Popp and his Corvette, be sure to follow the Optima series for more details.

-March 17-19, Las Vegas Motor Speedway
-April 21-23, NOLA Motorsports Park
