2016 SEMA Preview: F150 Trucks #TENSEMA16
These builds show what’s hot in the truck market
As the song says, there’s somethin’ about a truck. Perhaps it’s the room for your family and friends, maybe it’s how much stuff you can get into it, or possibly the fact you can tow your Mustang to the track with it. Whatever the case may be, Mustang enthusiasts are just as crazy about Ford trucks. We know there will be a ton of Mustangs at SEMA, but Ford Motor Company will also have several Ford truck builds at the show, as well. Here’s a preview of those that will be there.
The EraThr3 F150 by Hulst Customs is 5.0-liter powered SuperCrew boasting a supercharger to take power output to 750 horsepower. A CGS Performance cat-back exhaust belts out the power note, while a Hulst Customs air suspension with Aire Jax Four Play manual valves. Hulst Customs also built the truck’s Four-Link rear suspension and front brackets. Lexani Monza 26-inch wheels are wrapped with tires, also from Lexani.
Raising the ride height, and cool factor of an XLT 4X4 SuperCrew, Bojix Designs started with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost version. To it Bojix added a Full Race intake system, performance muffler, intercooler, and catch can. The icing on the power cake is the upgraded BorgWarner twin EFR turbochargers. Brembo brakes put the binders on all the fun, while the increased altitude comes via a Ready Lift 7-inch kit with Fox Racing coilovers. To take advantage of the extra power, G2 Axle and Gear was called upon for both front and rear gear sets. To cap off the exterior, Bojix added Grid Off-Road GF-2 forged 22-inch wheels wrapped in Nitto Mud Terrain tires.
Staying up in the higher altitudes, A.R.E. Accessories started with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost 4x4 XLT SuperCab, adding a Bully Dog performance tuner, and a Corsa intake and exhaust for improved power. Many of the A.R.E. improvements center on the truck’s exterior, with custom paint, Fuel forged wheels with Gripper tires, an Air Lift load lifter, Bushwacker flares, and Penda wheel well liners. Like the Bushwacker flares and Penda wheel well liners, the truck’s Kicker audio system is a Ford Licensed Product, as are the Putco stainless sill plates.
Those who grew up riding the likes of Redline, Hutch, Haro, Mongoose, GT, Dyno Compe, PK Ripper, etc, will be drawn to the BMX-themed F150 Lariat SuperCrew. The SuperCrew is outfitted with action sports accessories and gear like Ssquared Bicycle bike frames, Answer BMX bicycle parts, and GoPro action cameras to be able to share the action with your friends. To match the performance of our childhood memories, this SuperCrew also boasts a supercharger with a 132mm throttle-body, a CGS Performance 3-inch exhaust system, and Ford Performance custom painted coil covers.
With these builds, one can tell the truck market is alive and well. Ford Motor Company also proves it’s one of the leaders in the market.
