We first got wind of REC Watches in the fall of 2015 when they introduced a concept video and photo shoot of a new vintage Mustang themed timepiece called the P-51. We shared the news with our fans HERE if you missed the original story. The watch was designed with numerous Mustang styling attributes and the most iconic part of the idea was the use of actual Mustang sheetmetal for the construction of the watch itself. REC had already successfully produced a line of watches in the same manner using the beloved vintage Mini Cooper, but the Mustang would be something new for the small watch manufacturer.

Shortly after we reported on the P-51 prototype, news spread and REC’s Kickstarter campaign to raise enough capital to produce the new watch exceeded its target by over 200 percent! We updated fans about the Kickstarter action HERE and REC told us the P-51, in all three designs, would be shipping by the spring. However, with REC Watches located in Copenhagen, Denmark, it took a little more effort than originally thought to find suitable Mustang sheetmetal to produce the watch face. Thankfully, REC has secured enough metal to make several hundred P-51s in each of the available configurations and the P-51 is now shipping to customers.

The P-51 is unique in that it includes a story card with a QR code that takes the new watch owner to a professionally produced video explaining the story behind the Mustang that provided the metal to build the actual watch on your wrist! Furthermore, each watch includes the actual Mustang’s VIN on the face and on the back of the case. If you’re looking for something truly unique that will start conversations wherever you wear it, take a look at the P-51 from REC Watches.

The REC P-51 arrives in this trick metal canister that you could probably display in your Mustang collectibles all on its own!
Pop the top on the canister and out slides this nifty storage box with pre-cut foam insert the timepiece is shipped in along with the manual and ID card.
Everything out of the box for display.
