The Mustang Club of America Celebrates 40 Years This Labor Day Weekend
The MCA is pulling out all the stops to show Mustang enthusiasts a grand time at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
The Mustang Club of America (MCA) has been the voice of the Mustang hobby for four decades. Starting in the southeast of the U.S. in 1976, the club grew quickly and today has an international presence with MCA regional groups around the globe. The MCA has, at its heart, always been an organization that has promoted the Mustang hobby, including the preservation, history, judging standards, and more for enthusiasts. Over the last decade the MCA has not only grown, but has expanded from mostly static judged car shows, to driving events and more. 2016 marks the 40th anniversary for the MCA and they’ve got big plans to celebrate.
The MCA 40th celebration is planned for Labor Day weekend 2016 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The event venue is one with its own history and the MCA plans to add to that century of IMS history with this event in and around the speedway itself. The Mustang has been the official pace car of the Indianapolis 500 three times over its 52 years of continuous production and the MCA felt there was no better place to celebrate.
Starting Thursday, September 1st, while mainly an “arrival day” for those attending, there will be Pony drives, open track events, and demonstrations throughout the day at the speedway. Ticketed guests will enjoy a “Night at the Museum” with food and entertainment at the on-site Indianapolis Motor Speedway museum. On Friday, September 2nd, the event continues with more open track festivities, performance ride-and drives, the vendors will be set up and open for business, plus the car show field and car corral areas will be in full swing for the MCA chapter clubs, Team Shelby, SAAC, and more. In the evening an attempt at the world’s longest Mustang parade will be made. Come Saturday, September 3rd, all festivities will be in high gear with the final day of open track fun. The evening will be highlighted by the MCA banquet with plenty of special guests and celebrity speakers. Finally, on Sunday, September 4th, the event winds down with Mustang parade laps around the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s racing surface and across the infamous brick start/finish line.
Please note this is a celebration and not a judged event. Bring your Mustang and leave your judging card at home. This is meant to be a fun weekend celebrating the MCA and the Mustang hobby. Registration has been open since September of 2015 for this once in a lifetime event, but we’re here to tell you that registration does, unfortunately, have to close so the MCA can finalize parking spot layouts, and work with its vendors for things like banquet tables, tents, and more. As such, the registration will close on July 18th, 2016, which is right around the corner. If you’ve been on the fence about attending, now is the time to make your plans. We’ll be there, and we hope you will too! For registration forms, hotel info, and more see www.mca40th.com.
