Special Richard Petty Mustang Heads to Mecum to Benefit Victory Junction
SEMA Mustang Build Heads to Auction: Petty’s Garage/SEMA Cares to be Auctioned May 14, 2016
We’ve covered the awesome Petty’s Garage custom Mustang program a few times here at Mustang-360. These stellar black-over-“Petty Blue” Mustangs feature some trick parts, such as HRE three-piece wheels, a custom rear valance with center-exit exhaust, and Ford Performance Racing Parts. This weekend you can bid on one of these Petty’s Garage Mustangs that was custom built for the 2014 SEMA show and displayed in Ford’s huge SEMA booth that year. The 2015 Mustang, powered by the now famous Coyote 5.0L DOHC engine and backed by the factory six-speed manual transmission, launched the partnership between Ford Motor Company and Petty’s Garage.
The auction, held on May 21 in Indianapolis by Mecum Auctions, will run the car across the auction block as Lot S43 that day, symbolizing Richard Petty’s famous NASCAR car number, 43. Proceeds of the auction will benefit Victory Junction, a charity that provides children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses a life-changing camp experience in a medically safe environment at no cost to the campers or their families. The car was featured in Blue Emu commercials with Johnny Bench and used in the filming of AC/DC’s Brian Johnson’s television show Cars That Rock, which prompted Brian to purchase a Petty’s Garage Mustang of his own—his first domestic car ever!
