Is the market for the 1967 Shelby G.T. 500 going up, or down? We’ll soon find out—the Mecum Kansas City, Missouri auto auction for 2016 is coming in just a couple of weeks, from March 11-12, and there’s a 1967 Shelby G.T. 500 that currently has a 427 under its hood, but comes with what is described as a rebuilt original matching 428-inch Cobra Jet V8 engine included. Will it be two badass engines for the price of one?

Lot number S120.1 is a 1967 Shelby Mustang G.T. 500 with a color combination of Wimbledon White with blue stripes and black leatherette interior. It harkens back to the Shelby Mustang’s earliest days when Wimbledon White was the most prevalent color. The seller states, “over $130,000 invested in restoration, receipts included.”

It’s not exactly an apples to apples comparison, but a Candy Apple Red 1967 Shelby G.T. 500 (with almost the exact same lot number of Lot S120) crossed the block at Mecum KCMO in 2014 and bid up to $170,000 but didn’t meet its reserve. As Mecum says the bid goes on…
