Watch Ford Hang 60,000 pounds of F-Series Trucks from One F-Series Frame
Cunning Super Duty Stunt
There’s no doubt about it the pressure is on for heavy-duty pickup manufacturers world wide to qualify as the best of the breed, and the folks at Ford just added 60,000 pounds of F-series pressure to the contest.
Underneath that high-strength aluminum cab and bed Ford is betting the farm on is an all-new high-strength steel frame. It’s a cold process that tempers steel to heretofore-unknown toughness while allowing for weight saving designs.
A gorilla jumping on a suitcase to prove durability is from yesterday’s stunt book, truck manufacturers today have to attain new heights to get the message across, and we think you’ll agree Ford just stacked the deck.
Here’s what Ford had to say about its fantastic feat, “the 2017 Ford F-Series Super Duty is the toughest Super Duty ever thanks to its all-new high-strength steel frame. To prove this, John Brenkus, host and creator of ESPN Sport Science, hangs more than 60,000 pounds of F-Series trucks – eight F-150s, plus an F-750 Tonka dump truck – from the frame. Check out how the toughest, smartest, most capable Super Duty ever built accomplishes this never-been-done-before feat.”
