The driver of this almost new Mustang had already made a couple uneventful laps down Irwindale's eighth-mile track, before lining up against a surprisingly quick Audi sedan. As they left the starting line, the camera was lowered, until there was a sound heard from the crowd. Looking up, we saw the Mustang aiming toward the Audi's flank and the shutter began to flutter. Missing the first impact with the unsuspecting German import, the camera's eye caught the ensuing dance of destruction, from the pirouette away from an unwilling partner, to the popping and locking against the opposite side K-rail

The sound of folding sheet metal and screeching tires added an unappealing soundtrack as the Mustang continued to fold, spindle, and mutilate the majority of it's body panels, before finally resting in silence, back in it's own lane. After the track safety crew performed some cleanup duties, the badly beaten hulk was trotted down the return road for all to see it's wounds. Not a pretty sight and we're pretty sure this was not the way he wanted a test and tune session to go. Even so, the driver walked away safely and we’re glad to see he kept it off the streets.
