Attention in the Pits: the 2016 Mustang Will Be Available as a Body-In-White!
Most folks, including ourselves have built dedicated tarmac brawlers from what used to be our daily drivers. You know the drill, a simple bolt-on here leads to a few test and tune sessions there, only to quickly transform into a small-tire freak for competition use only.
However, for those looking to build their ultimate ride, there’s a far better alternative, like Ford Performance Racing Parts’ 2016 body-in-white Mustang. That’s right, on the heels of the 2016 Cobra Jet Mustang reveal at SEMA, Ford Performance Racing Parts has announced a 2016 Mustang Body and Competition Kit at the Performance Racing Industry trade show.
The BIW (M-607100-S550) comes painted and includes enclosures and a rolling cart for easy transport. The Competition Kit (M-607100-M8) includes the BIW and adds factory exterior trim, interior trim, and select suspension components.
“Some race car builds can be challenging to start with a factory assembled car, a bare body provides an ideal platform for customized builds or back-halved cars,” said Jesse Kershaw, Drag Race Parts and Competition manager. “The body-in-white is the perfect starting point for racers with a donor vehicle, or step up to the Competition Kit for the rest of the factory hardware.”
The BIW and Competition Kit are sold for off-road use only and come serialized for collectability. For all interested, the BIW is priced at $7,995 (MSRP) and will be available for orders during the first quarter of 2016. The Competition Kit pricing with final specs and availability will also be announced during first quarter of 2016.
