Is the Notch Mustang Really Back?
Fanning the flames of this Internet Rumor
Everyone loves a good rumor, especially if it feeds a dream, even a far fetched one at that. Recently you might have noticed a cool rendering of a futuristic Fox-body Mustang. It spread like a fire storm and had a lot of buzz going on in the Mustang world. So you’re probably asking yourself whether this is really happening or if it’s just another spoof by some heartless individual. We’re not even going to dignify the rumor with an answer. If you can’t figure this one out for yourself, let us propose a hypothetical concept of how this could look.
For starters, let’s just forget all those grandiose dreams of a beefed up solid axle rear. That stuff is ancient history in the fictional world of Blue Oval performance. On the plus side, this means the “new” Fox would likely have a killer independent rear suspension that would make for some interesting fun on canyon roads.
Since we’re dreaming up pony car fantasies here, why not come up with an engine that even the most hardcore Bow Tie guys would foam at the mouth just listening to it thundering down the road. The new flat plane crank 5.2L V8 VooDoo engine comes to mind as a perfect candidate and rightfully so with 526hp on tap. And how about that beefed up 6-speed manual transmission to help you leave the competition in the dust.
By now you should have probably figured out that the Fox is gone and not destined to come back – at least not in a square body package, but we can’t help but admire that people are going nuts for old school Notchback Mustangs. One thing’s for sure, this will no doubt fan the flames of this incredible idea that is not likely to ever happen.
