Carlisle Events Moves Florida Event Location to Lakeland’s Sun ‘n Fun Property
Florida event expands with four days of automotive fun
Carlisle Events, the company behind the Carlisle Ford Nationals held in Carlisle, PA every June, purchased two central Florida shows based out of Zephyrhills, FL in the fall of 2012. Growing these two shows over the last three years, Carlisle Events realized the two Florida shows had reached capacity. A new venue, the Sun ’n Fun campus in Lakeland, FL (home to the second largest annual air show right behind “the big one” in Oshkosh, WI), was secured in late 2014 for the 2015/2016 show season. The first show at the new location will be the Fall Florida AutoFest, taking place on November 12-15, 2015.
As mentioned above, Fall Florida AutoFest commences November 12 and runs four days at Sun ’n Fun. The weekend features a collector car swap meet, car corral, and two-day auto auction; presented by Carlisle Auctions. In addition, the bigger and better event in Lakeland also allows for a classic car show for the first time, plus interactive displays such as the Team Shelby High Performance Driving Experience, Air and Coach Concours, a motorcycle stunt show with Josh Borne, a rare Russian Cold War Era Tupolev boat, some cool car displays by the Dream Car Giveaway group and more.
In addition, Fall Florida AutoFest pays homage to what Sun ’n Fun is best known for: its air shows. The Fall Florida AutoFest will open each day with a flyover and sky diving accompanied by the National Anthem. The morning flyover won’t be the only time birds take flight either. Throughout the weekend, guests can soar high above the complex with helicopter rides. As if an automotive education wasn’t enough, the learning continues with the free Sun ’n Fun Aerospace Museum located on the property. There’s even a Top Gun flight simulator, giving guests a real feel for what piloting a high speed plane is all about.
The weekend as a whole is fun for the entire family and the fun comes with acres of free parking, a $10 daily admission (kids 12 and under free), great food and the chance to pick up a classic car within the car corral or auction, see classics on display (awards available) or simply snag a rare collectible or automotive-themed merchandise. There’s even a midway with top vendors within the industry including Meguiars, Amsoil, and Heacock Classic Insurance just to name a few.
Finally, with Carlisle Auctions backing the two-day collector car auction, showgoers have the chance to experience something live in an auction that they may otherwise only see on TV. The collector car auction is free to watch once onsite, and attendees can check out the fast paced auction excitement. If guests are more inclined to bid on a classic or try to move one of their own, the Carlisle Auctions team will easily and conveniently help facilitate the process. With more than 450 cars and trucks spanning automotive history, there is something for everyone. Complete details about the event can be found at www.carlisleevents.com, or by phone at (717) 243-7855.
