Wear Some Legends: New Quarter Mile Foundation T-shirt features drag racing legends
The Quarter Mile Foundation was formed to preserve the historical information of the drag racing community. Oral interviews, photos, early film footage, and much more have been compiled over the years to build a huge repository of drag racing’s roots, history, and memories. One of the Quarter Mile Foundation’s biggest works is Project 1320, a documentary on the history of drag racing. Sadly, before the sport grew into the popularity you see today with big sponsors, much of the previous 60 years of drag racing history has had little preservation, something the Quarter Mile Foundation is working to correct.
Being a 501(C)3 non-profit organization, the Quarter Mile Foundation relies on donations and other contributions in order to accomplish its goal of preserving the history of this sport. The Quarter Mile Foundation’s latest promotional gear is this limited edition “We Are Legend” T-shirt design, which honors the names of legends and pioneers of drag racing and the automotive performance aftermarket with dozens of names printed on the back of the shirt; names like Bob Glidden, Connie Kalitta, Gas Rhonda, John Force, Mickey Thompson, Shirley Muldowney, Hubert Platt, and many, many more. The shirt front features the Foundation’s familiar PROJECT 1320 logo. The back has a shield with the words “We Are Legend” and a stylized vintage fuel dragster breather mask, surrounded by the names.
These promotional shirts will be available in three versions, with each version having a limited number of shirts available. Each shirt will feature an entirely different set of names of legendary figures—living and deceased—in random order on the back of the shirt. Once a version is sold out, no more will be produced and the next version will take its place in succession. Finally, a fourth version, with legendary car names, will be available after supplies of the legend and pioneer name shirts are sold out. The T-shirts are 100 percent pre-shrunk cotton short-sleeve shirts that are made in the U.S.A. by Gildan Activewear. The T-shirts are available in black, white, and pink. Men’s sizes are available M/L/XL/2XL/3XL, while women’s sizes are S/M/L/XL/2XL.
Shirts are priced at $20 (U.S.) and $25 for 2XL and 3XL. They are currently available at the Foundation’s website, www.quartermilefoundation.org. Click on the STORE tab, which takes the visitor to the Foundation’s eBay store. The shirts can be paid for by PayPal, VISA, or MasterCard. The shirts are also available by check or money order, payable to The Quarter Mile Foundation, and mailed to 6210 Beverly Drive, Cleveland, OH, 44130.
