WELD Acquires CCW and Launches New Online Resource Center

The legendary Weld, known for their Weld Racing line of motorsports wheels, has been busy lately. Not only have they reorganized their brands into different divisions, but Weld has recently acquired Complete Custom Wheels (CCW) of Holly Hill, Florida. CCW has been manufacturing premium forged sports and luxury wheels, as well as a full line of road race wheels, from its Florida location for more than two decades. “CCW is the perfect complement to Weld’s current product range,” Weld President and CEO Norman Young said. “CCW’s ability to produce high-performance forged racing and sports car wheels is proven through over 25 national and international road racing championships. Weld’s expertise can only further accelerate product development and build on that established success.”

With CCW joining Weld the various product lines have been restructured into key customer segments. “As Weld has experienced unprecedented growth, we’ve increasingly seen the need to make our brand positioning very clear to the marketplace,” Young said. “This new structure defines who are as a company and gives us a platform to further expand and grow as a company. We are very excited to make this announcement today at one of the aftermarket’s premier events.” To that end, Weld now features Weld Racing, its cornerstone brand of wheels for oval and drag racing; Weld Street & Strip, Weld’s line of street legal forged wheels; Rekon Off-Road by Weld, which is Weld’s line of forged alloy wheels for trucks and Jeeps; and, finally, CCW Forged Performance, Weld’s latest line acquisition featuring luxury, sports cars, and road racing wheels.

With these strategic changes in place it was the perfect time for Weld to launch an all-new website to better reach customers and its dealers. From race, street, to off-road, the new site will create a unique user experience for each focus. New features, including make and model search, size filtering, and more help users find just the wheel they want for their specific ride. A new online resource center on the website will feature media assets, logos, news, and other materials for the media and Weld’s dealer network and business partners as well. An updated news feed, social media feeds, and more will keep content fresh while online games and contests, such as Ride of the Month, will allow customers and fans of Weld to win prizes and show off their rides. Cook it Up Shelby Style

If there’s one thing we know about Texas-style cooking, it’s far from bland! Texans like to kick their food up a notch with Southwestern flavor and now you can too thanks to the Carroll Shelby Foundation. The Carroll Shelby Foundation has launched a line of infused olive oils and vinaigrettes under the “Carroll Shelby’s Terlingua Texas” name that you can buy directly from the Foundation online or through the Carroll Shelby stores in Gardena, California, and Las Vegas. Proceeds from the sales at www.carrollshelbyfoundation.org will benefit the Carroll Shelby Foundation.

“The Carroll Shelby Foundation was of upmost importance to Carroll, and still is to his Trust,” Neil Cummings, co-CEO of Shelby International Inc. and Carroll Shelby Foundation Trustee, said. “To continue to honor his legacy, we’ve developed campaigns that raise awareness and support of his foundation’s work. The Carroll Shelby Terlingua Texas food line is a prime example of our dedication to generating awareness while also providing supporters and fans with quality Shelby products that they have come to love.”

Carroll cofounded the world’s first chili cook-off in the deserted ghost town of Terlingua, Texas, back in 1967 and the Terlingua name has been a favorite of Carroll’s for decades. The new Carroll Shelby Terlingua Texas food line launches with three premium olive oils and two gourmet vinegars. The Olive Oil Elixir line features Prima Virgin, jalapeño, and chipotle flavors, while the Snake Bite Vinegar can be had in garlic and cilantro blend and a chocolate and jalapeño blend. Inspired by Carroll’s original recipes, the olive oils and vinegars are made from authentic, all-natural ingredients inspired by the Southwest. Additional products are in development and will be released at a later date.

“Carroll Shelby was always a creative and passionate soul,” Jenni Shreeves, director of the Carroll Shelby Foundation said. “He enjoyed authentic Texan cuisine as much as he did high-performance cars. The return of the Terlingua Texas food lines is a great homage to Carroll’s drive, personality, and legacy. With these foods, we have bottled some of the Shelby ‘magic’ to raise support for the Foundation.” To order an item from the Carroll Shelby’s Terlingua Texas food lines, visit the Foundation at www.cscf.org.

GMP and Acme Diecast Returns

Mustang die-cast collectors certainly remember Georgia Marketing and Promotions, who were perhaps better known by their initials—GMP. GMP Diecast offered a slew of great, extremely detailed, Ford and Mustang die-casts over the years, but in 2011 GMP and its parent company, Acme Trading Company, went into bankruptcy. While many of us missed the great Mustang offerings—early Shelbys, Fox-era, and more—GMP and Acme are now back, thanks to a new joint venture with die-cast giant GreenLight Collectibles.

GreenLight Collectibles is putting GMP and Acme back on the map with an infusion of capital, more licensed branding availability, and a wider, more efficient distribution model. GMP/Acme will be offering Mustang die-casts once again (by the time you read this), including special color “WT” code ’68 Shelby Mustang fastbacks, seen here, through the Acme line. Another aspect we’ve always enjoyed of GMP that has returned is “Tom’s Garage.” When you sign up to be part of Tom’s Garage you not only get a cool collectible key, but four $25 off coupons on future purchases, other discounts and advance/early notices of sales, monthly drawings for die-cast cars, and more, all for just a $14.95 membership fee!
