’14 Shelby GT 500 Super Snake Owned by Carroll Hall Shelby Trust is First Car off New Shelby American Assembly Line

Shelby American's new Las Vegas facility, just off the famed Las Vegas Strip, is up and running and resumed production late last year. The first Shelby Mustang off the line was a Grabber Blue '14 GT 500 Super Snake owned by the Carroll Hall Shelby Trust. Featuring 850 hp, chassis #14SS0010 was delivered on December 26th to the new Shelby Automotive Museum in southern California. "The 2014 Ford Shelby GT 500 Super Snake represents one of the greatest collaborations between Carroll Shelby, Shelby American and Ford Motor Company," said Neil Cummings, co-Trustee of the Carroll Hall Shelby Trust. "Placing this particular car in the new Carroll Shelby Automotive Museum by Carroll's trust will symbolize that strong relationship, as well as remind the public that the organizations he founded are still influencing the world," Cummings added.

Established by Carroll Shelby, the Shelby Automotive Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created to educate the public about the auto industry, generally, and more specifically, the high performance cars created and built by Shelby American since 1962. From the first Cobra (CSX2000) to the current generation Shelby's, the museum will reflect America's spirit of competition by chronicling Carroll Shelby and the machines he inspired.

"Many consider the 2014 Ford Shelby GT 500 Super Snake to be the pinnacle of the outgoing solid axle Mustang line. Carroll was very proud of its breathtaking performance, which was developed after Ford upped the GT 500's capabilities in 2012. Since he was personally involved with both the pre-title GT 500 and post-title Super Snake package, it's fitting that the first car off our new factory line would be for Carroll's Trust," said Joe Conway, CEO of Shelby American.

The Super Snake package for GT 500 Mustangs is a post-title upgrade that starts at $28,995 for the 662 hp version. The optional supercharger upgrade takes the Super Snake to a whopping 850 hp in the $39,995 upgrade package. These prices do not include the cost of the base car of course. Every major system is upgraded in the Super Snake, including braking, handling, appearance, and more. Only 500 Super Snakes will be built at the Shelby American factory in Las Vegas; each will be numbered and documented in the official Shelby Registry. Customers can build their dream Shelby Super Snake online with the "Build-One" program and those interested in a Super Snake upgrade for their GT 500 can contact the Shelby American sales department at (702) 942-7325 or go to www.shelbyamerican.com.

A hand-built one-off aluminum hood with matching Shelby ducts, quarter panel scoops, retro-styled striping, and a modified rear window configuration all work to match the look of the '69. The '14 Shelby GT 500's 662 hp 5.8-liter supercharged V-8, six-speed manual transmission, Brembo brakes, and more round out the Shelby's performance potential.

New Beginning Children's Homes, is a 501(c)(3) provider of family style long term residential care with a mission to provide foster children a safe and faith centered family atmosphere where they can heal, grow, and be loved while working through difficult life issues. Mustang Makes its Way Home to Original Owner

For most of us our first Mustang is but a distant memory and we'd bet the majority of us would do just about anything to get that first ride back in our garage. Drive-in movies, the prom, maybe even your honeymoon or bringing your first-born home from the hospital—these memories would mean so much more if you still had the Mustang they happened in right? Well one such Mustang owner was able to do just that and it all happened because his parents never changed their phone number!

Dennis back home with his ’68 Shelby GT 350 once again in his name—45 years later. Dennis meeting with owner number two (on the left). Dennis also had the pleasure of meeting owner number three (on the left) and owner number four (on the right).

Dennis Blocker of Lehighton, Pennsylvania has been a car enthusiast since he was old enough to turn his own wrenches. He ordered a '68 Shelby GT 350 from Gilboy Ford in nearby Allentown; his closest Shelby dealer. The GT 350 became Dennis' every day driver and found its way to many race tracks over the years. Swearing he'd never sell it (sound familiar?-Ed.) Dennis found himself in the middle of the same gas crisis as the rest of the U.S.A. and in 1971 traded the Shelby in for a new Bronco (he needed to pull trailers for his business). Ten years later he did find a '65 GT 350 for sale and picked it up. He joined SAAC and enjoyed the fastback, but it wasn't his '68.

Dennis' '68 GT 350 didn't sit on the dealer's lot very long. It sold quickly to a local buyer and traded hands two more times, eventually ending up in Alabama. Owner number four performed a full and correct restoration and during that process found the owner's manual in the car with Dennis' name and phone number. However, the number was for Dennis' parent's house, where he lived at the time. A call to the number and owner number four got Dennis' mother. She gave the latest owner Dennis' number, as he wanted to speak with Dennis and get details from the original owner for the restoration. The restored car hit the show circuit for a few years, but in 2010 owner number four called Dennis and asked him if would like to purchase his original car back. Dennis now has his '68 Mustang back and he's not letting it go again.

Radio-Controlled Fastback

Vaterra RC, a new division of radio controlled products giant Horizon Hobby, was launched to bring a new level of realism to car enthusiasts that are looking to join the radio controlled car hobby. While Vaterra launched with some Brand X vehicles mid-2013 we were excited to see their first officially licensed Ford offering recently; a '67 Mustang fastback! The fastback's lines are true to scale and feature a few light restomod touches as well. The Vaterra Mustang R/C comes in a dark green finish with low-profile rubber and performance-look wheel package. Clear body "shells" are available so that owners can custom paint their Vaterra R/C Mustang to match their own full-size ride as well.

The Vaterra R/C '67 Mustang features an efficient and quiet shaft-driven electric drivetrain that powers all four wheels with waterproof electronics. Included in the Vaterra R/C '67 Mustang ready-to-run (RTR) kit is the Vaterra V100-S chassis with four-wheel independent suspension that is fully assembled, the officially licensed '67 Mustang body shell, a two-channel radio, 7.4-volt NiMh battery, and battery charger. The Vaterra R/C '67 Mustang is 1/10th scale, measuring in at 14.85-inches long with a 10.25-inch wheelbase. The Vaterra R/C '67 Mustang should be on your local hobby retailer's shelves by the time you read this, or check out www.vaterrarc.com to find your nearest retailer or to buy online. Be sure to check out our Facebook page and website for more pictures and video too!
