2013 Mustang Dream Giveaway
The 2013 Mustang Dream Giveaway, a nationwide drawing sponsored by WorldCause Foundation, came to an end on July 4, 2013, with William Strickler of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, chosen as the grand prize winner.
Strickler was awarded both a 1968 Shelby G.T. 500 and a matching 2013 Shelby GT500. And as customary with the Dream Giveaway, he received $50,000 cash to help pay the federal withholding requirement for taxes. He entered the 2013 Mustang Dream Giveaway on May 15, 2013, by making a $300 tax-deductible donation.
"When I went on the website and saw my name, I almost fell over," Strickler said at the time, proclaiming that he has been a Mustang enthusiast his entire life. Since taking both Shelbys home, he has set aside some time to enjoy both cars. "I absolutely love them!" Mr. Strickler said. "Showing the cars to everyone who wants to see them has been exhausting, but I think I will survive!"
As a result of donations received from this event, WorldCause Foundation awarded grants to DAV, Henry Ford Health System, the Carroll Shelby Foundation, and the PVA Outdoor Recreation Heritage Fund.

Pony Cars Take Center Stage
The SCCA Trans-Am racing series launched in 1966, and was designed to showcase a new class of sporty, domestic cars racing on road courses. In a few short years, it became the ultimate American automobile showdown, with each major automotive manufacturer participating heavily in the Trans-Am Series.
