GAS to Debut 1000 hp Galpin Ford GTR1
Concept Supercar Inspired By Ford GT
Galpin Auto Sports (GAS) just announced its first coach-built supercar, the Galpin Ford GTR1. This new supercar concept is set to debut on the Monterey peninsula on August 16th at The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering and then it will be displayed on the lawn of Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 18th.
With Galpin customizing cars for 60 years, the company decided to build the GTR1 inspired by the Ford GT. Powering the heart of the beast is a twin turbocharged 5.4L V-8 engine capable of an estimated 1,024 hp and 739 lb-ft of torque, and capable of reaching speeds excess of 225mph.
The all-aluminum body is handcrafted, and is five inches wider than a Ford GT. It was built by Metalcrafters, a renowned concept car builder. Other goodies include 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, Pirelli P-Zero tires, six-piston brakes with carbon rotors, jeweled headlamps and tail lamps, and carbon fiber accents all around.
A machined aluminum instrument cluster graces the interior as well as a McIntosh system, luxury hand-crafted leather-trimmed seats, dash, door panels, and headliner. This car will be extremely limited come production with a choice of an aluminum or carbon fiber body.
“We’re incredibly excited and honored to celebrate the culmination of Galpin’s 60 years of creating unique vehicles with the debut of our first supercar at such respected venues,” said Beau Boeckmann, Vice President of Galpin Motors and President of Galpin Auto Sports.
After unveiling it to the public in August, a detailed tech sheet, pricing, and hi-resolution images will be available.
